The 2012 Boys Tennis Season gets underway on Monday February 27th, the first day of tryouts.

Girls Tennis takes STATE!!!!

The Lone Peak Girls Tennis team won the 5A State Championship on Saturday , Oct.8th, a championship they share with Alta High School.It is Lone Peaks 1st State Championship in Tennis.

The previous week, the Knights won the Region tournament, securing a Region 4 Championship and went into the State tournament with three #1 seeds at 1st singles, 3rd singles and 1st doubles, with #2 seeds going to 2nd singles and 2nd doubles.

In the State tournament, everyone contributed points to the State Championship as four positions made it to the semifinals, with three of the positions getting to the finals. After being tied with Alta after the 1st day, the Knights were still tied with Alta going into the final two matches. At 2nd doubles Haley Schettler and Electra Cochran played their steady and heady game to prevail 6-3, 6-3 to win an individual state championship and give Lone Peak a share of the championship. 1st doubles Torie Wake and Lauren Lefrandt battled for over two hours in their match, coming up just short in the third set. The total team points earned gave Lone Peak a Co- Championship.

Junior Varsity Girls Finish STRONG !

Lone Peak's Junior Varsity dominated the Region JV Tournament on Saturday Sept 24th. With a couple of Lone Peak entrants in several divisions, the Knights took 1st in four of the six division and took 2nd in five of the six divisions. Individual results and scores in the championship matches are included:

Girls Season Update

The Lady Knights Tennis team finished the regular season today with a 5-0 victory over Pleasant Grove. The win puts Lone Peak @ 14-0 for the season and 10-0 in region play. Since the last update, the Knights have strung together wins over Bingham, American Fork, Lehi and Riverton in Region.

The team now prepares for the JV Region Tournament on Saturday Sept 24th @ Lone Peak and the Varsity Region tournament at Riverton High School on Tues Sept 27th and Weds Sept. 28th.
Leading the Varsity into the Region tournament will be Taylor Calton @ 1st singles, Megan Call @ 2nd singles and Kayla White @ 3rd singles.The Knights doubles teams include the 1st doubles team of Torie Wake and Lauren Lefrandt and the 2nd doubles team of Haley Schettler and Electra Cochran.

Week in Review

The Lady Knights continue to play superb tennis. Since the last update, the Knights have strung together region wins vs American Fork, Riverton and Pleasant Grove to run their region record to 5-0.The Knights have yet to lose a match in Region. During Region play the Knights managed to schedule a tough non-region match with Maple Mountain and the Knights were victorious 3-2. Their overall record is 9-0.

The Lone Peak Knights Girls Tennis Team improved to 5-0 in Region and 9-0 overall with a hard fought 5-0 win over Pleasant Grove. The match of the day was at 2nd singles were Lone Peak's Megan Call outlasted PG's Sophie Sorhaitz 6-2,5-7,6-3 in a 2 1/2 hour match.

Week in Review

The Lady Knights continued their strong play as Region IV play began. Facing two excellent teams the Knights came away with 5-0 Varsity wins over both Lehi and Bingham. Varsity standouts include Taylor Calton, Megan Call and Kayla White in singles with Torie Wake and Lauren Lefrandt at doubles along with Haley Schettler and Electra Cochran at 2nd doubles. The Knights ran their season record to 5-0.

Lady Knights Season Starts Strong

The Lady Knights tennis team has begun the 2011 season 3-0, with school still days away from starting. On Friday August 12th the Knights hosted a four team tournament with Orem, Viewmont and Jordan and came away winning the lions share of matches there. On Weds August 17th the Knights traveled to Herriman High where the Varsity and JV teams both posted impressive 5-0 victories. Leading the Varsity against Herriman were singles players Taylor Calton, Megan Call and team captain Torie Wake. The doubles teams of Kayla White and Lauren Lefrandt and Haley Schettler and Sierra Dew also posted straight set wins vs. their opponents.

 On Friday Aug. 19th the Knights hosted former region rival and last years 5A State runner-up Alta and pulled out a hard fought, 3 hour 3-2 victory on Varsity and the Junior Varsity also won 3-2. Leading the Knights was # 1 singles player and freshman Taylor Calton (6-2,6-0) who was impressive in victory. Megan Call and Kayla White at 2nd and 3rd singles battled their opponents for two hours before falling just short. At 2nd doubles Haley Schettler and Electra Cochran played tough and made great shots en route to their win (6-3, 7-5). The match was now tied and came down to the 1st doubles match which went into a 3rd set. Using great serves and tough net play, Torie Wake and Lauren Lefrandt came away with a three set win that took nearly three hours (6-4,6-7,6-4) to complete. The Knights face Lehi and Bingham next week, followed by American Fork, Maple Mountain and Riverton the following week.

BOYS TENNIS FINISHES SEASON, TAKES 2ND IN REGION

The Lone Peak Boys team finished another successful season in 2011. In Region they finished 8-4 and in 2nd place and held that position after the region tournament where they qualified all seven Varsity players for State. At State on May 13th and 14th there were six of the seven Knight players who had never played at State. In singles Scott Bohne, Tanner Squires and Stafford Thomas all battled hard in the 1st round with only Scott advancing 6-0,6-1. In doubles, Scott Christiansen & Blair Robbins made a spectacular comeback in their 1st match, only to fall just short. At 2nd doubles, Jens Nielsen and Ammon Story lost a tough match to the eventual finalists. So it was up to Scott Bohne to carry the LP banner forward, which he did into the semifinals of 1st singles, where he lost to senior Matt Sweet 4-6,3-6. This ended a great season, a 2nd place finish in Region and getting the entire team qualified for State. 2012 looks to be an even greater year for Lone Peak Boys Tennis!

KNIGHTS TENNIS TAKES 2ND IN REGION,QUALIFIES ALL 7 PLAYERS FOR STATE!

The Boys tennis team finished their region tournament today, qualifying the entire Varsity team for State next week. The team did well enough today that when tournament and regular season numbers were totaled, we edged out Alta and Pleasant Grove for 2nd place in region.
At the region tournament our Lone Peak team came to play and we had some exciting matches over the 2 day tournament. Qualifying for State next week were Tanner Squires @ 2nd singles and Stafford Thomas @ 3rd singles. At 1st doubles Scott Christiansen and Blair Robbins had the match of the tournament on day one with a 2 1/2 hour match that went to a 3rd set tiebreaker, which turned into a 7-9 heart-breaker loss for Lone Peak. Thirty minutes later they trounced their next opponent 6-0,6-0 to qualify for State. At 2nd doubles Jens Nielsen and Ammon Story also qualified for State as a 2nd seed as they beat out Pleasant Grove for 2nd place. At 1st singles, Scott Bohne faced off against Brightons Keaton Cullimore in the championship match and for the number 1 seeding. Scott played with heart, determination and desire and stood toe to toe in the battle for a large part of the match before eventually succumbing 4-6,2-6.

Practice continues for the Knights as they prepare for State May 13th and 14th @ Liberty Park.

2011 BOYS TENNIS UPDATE

With only a few weeks of the season left, the Lone Peak Boys Tennis team has a record of 8-4 overall, 7-3 in region and is currently in 2^nd place in Region 4.

With eight of the top 12 players from 2010 having graduated or moved, this years team has met with great success in what is clearly a rebuilding year. Leading the team this year is our captain, junior Scott Bohne who has gone 11-1 this year at 1^st singles. Scott’s work ethic, calm demeanor on the court and his savvy court sense have demonstrated why he is the team leader. Other Varsity contributors this year have been Tanner Squires and Stafford Thomas in singles and the doubles teams of Scott Christiansen and Blair Robbins as well as Jens Nielsen and Ammon Story. Kevin Schvaneveldt has made some crucial contributions this year on the Varsity squad. Others seeing some Varsity playing time include Matt Zwick and McKay Newell.

The Knights finish up their season next week with matches against Brighton and Hillcrest. The JV squad will complete their season on Saturday April 30^th with an all region tournament while the Varsity prepares for their Region tournament on May 4^th & 5^th with the State Tournament the following weekend.
