LONE PEAK GIRLS TENNIS !
 
Tryouts will be held on Aug 1,2,3 & from 6:30 to 9 AM. You must be in attendance at tryouts each day. The season finishes on October 7^th .
TRYOUTS are for any 9th through 12th grade player.

ALL NEW & RETURNING PLAYERS- You must be registered on registermyathlete.com and this must be completed before tryouts on Aug1st. Failure to complete means YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRYOUT! Please complete registration PRIOR TO TRYOUTS!!
Costs : $100 participation fee, $80 to $100 additional for Uniform and Equipment charges (approximate cost will be known by August 8th) . All fees must be paid by August 16^th before you can play.

LONE PEAK BOYS TENNIS TAKES FIRST STATE TITLE!! KNIGHTS FOR LIFE!

After finishing the first day tied with Brighton, the Lone Peak boys tennis team went on to sweep its semifinal matches, win all three singles titles and finish second in both doubles brackets to best the Bengals 26-18 and secure LONE PEAKS first-ever state championship!

The match that proved to be the critical turning point for the Knights was the semifinal in No. 1 singles, where seniors Brocton Andrus of Lone Peak and Chase Stoner of Brighton battled it out for a spot in the final. The BYU-bound Andrus made quick work of University of Utah recruit Stoner, eliminating him 6-2, 6-2 to help move Lone Peak ahead by a precious two points at 18-16. He went on to win his team’s final individual title, as well, as he defeated Viewmont’s Jack Taylor 6-1, 6-1.

In No. 2 singles, the coveted prize went to Brocton’s younger brother, sophomore Brigham Andrus, who defeated Brighton junior Jared Mansell 6-1, 6-4.

In third singles, sophomore Micah Heimuli outlasted Bengal senior Mitchell Mansell 7-5, 6-4. Last year, he fell in the final to Jared Mansell 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-4). “It feels amazing, especially after the tight loss last time,” he said.

The 2 Knights Doubles teams both lost tough close matches in the finals but their overall points in the tournament were critical to the teams championship.

The championship match of the day came in No. 1 doubles,  where American Fork seniors Spencer Wood and Braden Condie prevailed in a well-played marathon 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 over Lone Peak seniors Bryan Gricius and Dallin Carrier.

The final match of the day was another lengthy battle, this one at No. 2 doubles between Knight sophomores Niles Cochran and Josh Bearss and Bengals Cannon Mansell and Jake Fisher. The Brighton duo won 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-5).

“To watch the guys come through and win this team championship is just special,” he said. “In the big picture, everyone contributed points, and that’s huge.
“My assistant coach, Roger Baumgartner, worked with our doubles teams and did some amazing things as Coach to get them ready for the tournament'.

Returning Girls and Girls who want to tryout for the Lone Peak Girls Tennis Team- There will be a brief PLAYERS MEETING on Friday May 20th @ the Lone Peak Courts from 3:00 to 3:20. Tryouts and other items to be discussed.

Lone Peak Boys Go Undefeated 14-0, Capture Top Seeds for State!

The Lone Peak Boys Tennis Team went undefeated during the regular season for the 2nd year in a row, winning the Regio Championship for the 4th year in a row. During the Region Tournament the Team got 5 first place seeds for each of 5 positions at State. Representing Lone Peak @ State on May 19th and 21st will be Brocton Andrus @ 1st Singles, Brigham Andrus @ 2nd Singles, Micah Heimuli @ 3rd Singles with Bryan Gricius and Dallin Carrier @ 1st doubles and Niles Cochran and Josh Bearss @ 2nd doubles.

The 5 1st place seeds is the best the Knights have done since the 2009 season. With this Region Championship, this is the 11th Region title in the last 13 years.
