Girls Tennis Tryouts for 2013-4 !!
Girls Tennis Tryouts begin Monday Aug 5th!
MON. Aug 5th 6:45 am to 9 AM
TU. Aug 6th- 6:45 am to 9 AM
WED. Aug 7th-6:45 to 9 AM
(MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE ALL DAYS)
PRACTICES ON TH, FRI & SAT OF THAT WEEK WILL BE 6:45-9 AM
PRACTICES WILL BE 3:30-5:30 BEGINNING MON AUG 12TH FOR REST OF SEASON
FIRST MATCH IS TUESDAY AUGUST 13TH !!

· 4th term GRADES ( Eligibility= 2.5 GPA, NO F’s)

Lone Peak Boys Tennis Takes Region IV Title !
For the 8th time in 11 years, the Lone Peak Boys have won the Region title. (See picture at Bottom of the Blog)
After dropping their first two matches (non-region) in close contests this year, the Knights reeled off 11 wins in their next 12 matches. Going into the region tournament held on 5/1 & 5/2 the Knights held a 2 point advantage over 2nd place Bingham. In the Region tournament the Knights came to play as they accumulated 20 of 25 possible points, distancing themselves from the rest of the Region. All Varsity players are going to State! At the Region tournament, Freshman Brocton Andrus completed an undefeated Region season by winning the 1st singles crown in convincing fashion. At 2nd singles, Senior Blair Robbins battled to the championship match and fought valiantly for 3 sets before losing his match. Junior Derek Schetselaar had a tremendous tournament and won the 3rd singles title in straight sets. At 1st doubles, Ammon Story and Ben Bearss took home a 3rd place finish, while at 2nd doubles, Lucas Wale and Matt Zwick were region champions in a straight set victory. Kudo's during the regular season go to seniors Will Stoddard and Cole Ellison who filled in on some Varsity matches as well as Big Kudo's to Colton Carrier who played several matches on Varsity, admirably filling in for Varsity players who were injured.
The theme of this years team has been hard work and perseverance as they have had to overcome injuries as well as tough competition. The State tournament begins on May 10th @ Liberty Park.

Mon. Feb. 25th thru Thursday Feb.28th - TRYOUTS--3:30 to 5:30PM
Plan to Bring: Signed Tryout Checklist Form, Signed Disclosure Document, Grades for term 2, Physical Form. I will also need an address to INSURE you live within the boundaries!
All forms will be made available ( eventually!!!!) on the blog or I will tell you how to get there!
Other Tryout information- Team size is 18 players- 7 Varsity, 7 JV and 4 Alternates. There will be three to five slots open this year. Tryouts will consist of new 9th through 12th grade players trying out for the first time AS WELL AS MOST OF LAST YEARS JV SQUAD & Alternates.
March 13th & March 19th- 1st match and 1st region match !!
Practices begin March 1st @ 3:30 for remainder of season.
To returning and prospective players........We go into the 2013 season as the defending Region IV Champions. The only way we have a chance to repeat this is for hard work before and during the season!!
There will be a 'pre-season' Tennis Meeting sometime in January to answer questions & hand out forms. Watch the blog for more information !!
