Tryouts for Lone Peak Boys Tennis will begin on MONDAY February 29th and continue through Wednesday March 2nd from 3:30 to 5:30, at Lone Peak, weather permitting. MORE information will be forthcoming at a Player/Parent Meeting to be held during the first week of February.
All players returning or trying out must complete :
1) the requirements on Register my Athlete.com and
2) turn in grades for the previous term and bring to tryouts.
Failure to follow through with these 2 steps will mean you will be unable to tryout!
PRACTICES will begin on Thursday March 3rd from 3:30 to 5:30 and practices will also be held on Saturdays through the month of March.

Fourth State Title in 5 years as Girls Tennis Takes State in 2015!
For the 4th time in 5 years the Lone Peak Girls Tennis Team hoisted the 1st place State trophy on October 10th, 2015. Another remarkable season with remarkable stories.
Prior to getting to the State Tournament, the Varsity and Junior Varsity completed another undefeated season, running their 5+ year record to 81-0. Our Junior Varsity team swept all of the singles and all of the doubles positions in the JV Region Tournament at the end of September. Not to be outdone, the Varsity team also swept the Varsity Region tournament, taking 1st place in each of 5 positions.
At State our Varsity players played with confidence and poise as each position won their first two matches to advance to the Day 2 semifinals. In the semifinals each player played tough and advanced to the finals in their respective positions.
In the finals, two of our positions won State Championships as Morgan Hall at 3rd singles and Daniela & Anna Aaron at 1st doubles won their championships in straight sets.
Our other Knight positions had hard fought finals, with two of the three finals going 3 tough sets. In the end, Leah Heimuli at 1st singles, Annaliese County at 2nd singles and Ellie Slighting and Cami Gricius @ 2nd doubles took home 2nd place in their divisions.
The overall success of the team at the tournament enabled the Knights to take the State Championship with 24 points, while Davis High finished 2nd with 19 points.
Kudos to these great players for their hard work and sacrifice and Kudos to parents for the support of their daughters!

**I have set up some summer hitting/tournament days for the girls team on the following days:
Fridays June 5,12, 26 Saturdays June 6,13, 27
Each day we will look at trying to put you in some type of tournament format & have you play other girls/prospective girls on the team. This is optional, this is not required. The fee is real do-able, the cost each day is ONE can of tennis balls.
Play will begin @ 8:30 and go no later than 12:30.

Later Dates may be abandoned due to lack of interest!

LONE PEAK GIRLS TENNIS
Girls Tennis- Tryouts are Aug 3-4-5 from 6:30 to 8:45 AM.
Girls Tennis Information Meeting will be held on Friday May 22nd in the Lone Peak Commons from 3-3:30 for all interested incoming 9th through 12th graders.

Lone Peaks Boys Finish as Region 4 Champs, Take 3rd @ State!
The Lone Peak Boys Tennis season finished this past week after another successful season. Having gone undefeated for the first half of the season, the Knights matched that by going undefeated for the second half of the season, with the highlight a 4-1 non-Region match win over 5A power Bingham in late April. The Knights finished with a 14-0 mark and prepared for the Region tournament on May 6th and 7th. At the Region Tournament Lone Peak swept the singles competition as Brocton Andrus, Brigham Andrus and Micah Heimuli won championships and set themselves up as #1 seeds for the State tournament. Both doubles teams, Bryan Gricius & Niles Cochran and Dallin Carrier & Josh Bearss clawed their way through tough matches over the two days, earning 2nd place and #2 seeds at State.
At the State tournament on May 14th and 16th, the Knights stayed focused as all 5 positions advanced with 1stround wins. In the 2nd round, the 1st doubles team of Gricius/Cochran ran into a tough Viewmont doubles team and lost while all of the singles players and 2nd doubles advanced to Saturdays semifinals.
In the semifinals, Brocton Andrus at 1st singles and Micah Heimuli at 3rd singles played well and advanced in straight sets to the finals. Brig Andrus at 2nd singles played part of his match outdoors and then indoors as the elements took over. Brig put up a valiant fight before losing 6-3 in the 3rd set. The 2nd doubles team of Carrier & Bearss also had their 3rd set moved indoors. Their rollercoaster match which went back and forth finally went to a 3rd set tiebreaker, with Lone Peak on the short end and taking the loss in what was the match of the tournament.
In the finals, Brocton Andrus was overpowered by 3 time State champion Jake Tullis and Micah Heimuli battled fearlessly for two hours against the defending State champion @ 3rd singles and came up just short 7-6,7-6.
When all the points were tallied, Lone Peak walked away with a 3rd place finish. With 4 freshmen and 3 juniors on Varsity this year, Lone Peak served notice that they will be a team to be reckoned with next year and years to come.

The Knights are led in Varsity singles play by Brocton Andrus and two freshmen, Brigham Andrus and Micah Heimuli. Varsity doubles players include Bryan Gricius, Niles Cochran, Dallin Carrier and Josh Bearss with Aaron Story and Sam Johnson also seeing doubles action. With 6 new freshmen on the team, Lone Peak is one of the deepest teams in the State in terms of talent.
