2016 GIRLS TENNIS-REGION 4 CHAMPIONS, STATE 5A RUNNER-UPS, 4 INDIVIDUAL STATE CHAMPIONS!

The Lone Peak Girls Tennis team completed another successful season, winning the Region Championship for the 12th time in the last 13 years. Varsity and Junior Varsity girls did not drop a single match in Region play this year. At the Varsity Region tournament, all five positions garnered #1 seeds for the State tournament, while the Junior Varsity got big wins in the Region JV tournament. In the JV tournament Annabelle Nielsen won the 1st singles division. In doubles, Anna Peterson and Zoie Black won 1st doubles, while Ava Curtis and Aubrie Aagard won in 2nd doubles and Sydney Allen and Reese Curtis won in 3rd doubles.
At the State tournament, Daniela Aaron represented the Knights well, getting all the way to the final before losing to the States 4 time champions. Anna Aaron battled her way to the semifinals as did Joslin Seaberg at 3rd singles before they lost in two hard fought matches. The Knights two doubles teams had magic going for the tournament as Rachel Neeleman and Cami Gricius took the first doubles State Championship and Ellie Slighting and Katie King won the 2nd doubles State Championship. For Rachel and Cami it was all about adding suspense to their title as they played 6 sets of tennis on the final day, playing for over 5 hours before being victorious. At 2nd doubles, Ellie and Katie found themselves in a 'zone' in the championship match winning 6-1, 6-0 in about an hour. The doubles wins coupled with the singles wins allowed the Knights to take 2nd place overall at State, narrowly losing to Davis High School.
